Ask Us About AccessoriesThe Details That Make the Difference
A well-installed carpet or stair runner is only as good as the accessories holding it in place. At Yazco Carpets, we supply and fit the full range of finishing products — from decorative stair rods to practical acoustic underlay — ensuring every installation is complete, functional, and looks exactly right. Whether you're fitting a runner in a Marylebone townhouse or entrance matting in a Mayfair office, the right accessories make the difference between a good job and a great one.
Stair Rods
Stair rods are the traditional method of holding stair runners in place, running horizontally across each tread at the base of the riser. Beyond their functional role, a well-chosen set of stair rods adds a finishing touch that elevates the whole staircase — particularly in the period properties that are common across Marylebone, Belgravia, and Kensington.
We supply stair rods in a range of finishes to suit every interior style. Antique brass and polished brass are perennial favourites in Georgian and Victorian homes. Satin nickel and chrome suit contemporary interiors. Pewter, black iron, and aged pewter are popular in more traditional settings where a cooler, understated look is preferred. Each rod is fitted with matching brackets and end caps for a clean, professional finish.

Door Bars & Transition Strips
Wherever two flooring types meet — carpet to wood, carpet to tiles, carpet to LVT — a door bar or threshold strip creates a neat, safe transition. Without one, the carpet edge lifts, becomes a trip hazard, and looks unfinished. We supply and fit a full range of door bars in matching or complementary finishes to your stair rods and other hardware.
Carpet to Hard Floor
Flat bar profile that grips the carpet edge while butting neatly against hard flooring. Available in brass, chrome, silver, and gold anodised aluminium.
Carpet to Carpet
Seam binder bars for joining two carpet areas, typically across doorways or where two carpet types meet in open-plan spaces.
Cover Strip
Used where two hard floors meet. Sits over the expansion gap. Available in a wide range of wood-effect and metal finishes to match any floor.
Carpet Underlay
Good underlay is not optional. It extends the life of your carpet, improves comfort underfoot, and — critically for London flats — provides acoustic insulation that helps meet Building Regulations Part E. A proper underlay absorbs impact noise, reducing the sound transmitted to the flat below. We recommend underlay for every carpet installation and will advise on the best type for your specific property and floor type.
Foam Underlay
Lightweight and cost-effective. Good for moderate foot traffic in bedrooms and living rooms. Provides thermal and acoustic cushioning. Suitable for most residential installations.
Rubber Underlay
Denser, more durable, and provides better acoustic performance than foam. Ideal for stairs, hallways, and high-traffic areas. Excellent choice for period homes where solid floors transmit sound.
Felt & Crumb Rubber
Premium acoustic underlay. Best performance for sound insulation — widely recommended in London flat conversions where Building Regs Part E compliance is required. Absorbs both impact and airborne sound.
Acoustic Underlay for London Flats
London flat conversions — particularly in Victorian and Edwardian houses across Paddington, Bayswater, and Maida Vale — often have timber suspended floors that transmit significant impact noise. A quality acoustic underlay rated at 15–22mm thickness, combined with carpet, forms an effective sound-dampening system. For leaseholders in mansion blocks who want carpet but face specific acoustic requirements from their management company, we can advise on appropriate underlay specifications and provide documentation.
Carpet Grippers & Fixings
Gripper rods hold carpet taut around the room perimeter, preventing movement and wrinkles. They are fitted at the installation stage and remain in place permanently. We use quality grippers matched to the subfloor type — nail-down grippers for timber, adhesive grippers for concrete. On stairs, each individual tread receives its own gripper set to hold the runner securely in position.
For stair runners using stair rods rather than grippers, we fit appropriate tackless strips to the tread before positioning the rod. The combination of rod and gripper is the most secure stair runner fixing available.
Entrance Matting
A well-designed entrance mat system does more than look tidy — it traps dirt and moisture at the door, protecting the flooring beyond and reducing cleaning time significantly. For residential properties, recessed coir matting in a bespoke frame is a popular and practical choice. For commercial properties, we install professional barrier matting systems from Gradus that comply with slip resistance and accessibility requirements.
Entrance matting is available in coir, needlepunch, and aluminium-inlay systems. We can supply bespoke-cut mats to fit any entrance, including the irregular sizes common in period London properties. For commercial clients across Mayfair, Fitzrovia, and the City, entrance matting is an essential first line of defence against London weather.
